High-Risk Chemical Neutralisation

A neutralisation system augmented by automation

The Australian government requires that hazardous waste is transported to an EPA licensed facility, where it can be appropriately managed. Acids and alkalis are considered to be extremely dangerous to both human health and the environment and as such, they need to be neutralised by a licensed, capable facility like our state-of-the-art neutralisation plant in Laverton.

In all of the main industry sectors, these kinds of high-risk chemicals are a necessity. However, that doesn’t mean they need to impose a risk. By partnering with chemical neutralisation specialists, GRR, these chemicals can be utilised and safely managed – mitigating any harm to the environment due to illegal disposal or long-term storage.

Our neutralisation system is fully automated to deliver a swift, reliable service to our customers. Armed with industry-leading safety and environmental protection measures, you can be confident that GRR is honouring our commitment to people, the planet and communities.

Making safety & sustainability the driving forces

Regulations are gradually getting stricter, and businesses that handle hazardous materials have to navigate a minefield of rules and licenses. On top of that, there’s an emphasis in the industry on recycling – rather than treating or disposing of – waste, with an aim to reduce Australia’s reliance on virgin materials and pump more reusable products back into the circular economy.

The GRR neutralisation facility was established to streamline business’ processes, so our customers only need to outsource their chemical neutralisation needs to one high-performing plant. We achieve that through the ability to safely neutralise a wide range of high-risk chemicals, including:

  • Oxidisers
  • Solvents
  • Galvanising acid
  • Concentrated acids, including;
    • Hydrochloric acid
    • Sulphuric acid
    • Hydrofluoric acid
  • Concentrated alkalis, including;
    • Sodium hydroxide
    • Potassium hydroxide
Heavy Machinery

We modify chemicals to a neutral pH for a variety of reasons. Most notably, our high-risk chemical neutralisation service is in place to purify hazardous by-products so they can be used again. This service can be augmented by our wastewater treatment facilty, to remove any harmful remaining residues and contribute to our ‘aiming for zero’ mission.
