Oil Recycling

Transforming waste oil into a high-quality, usable product

We need oil to keep our cars, lawnmowers and other machines running smoothly. According to the Australian Petroleum Statistics, we consume around 159 million litres of oil every day – ranking Australia at 20th in the world for oil consumption. When automotives and other machines are in use, impurities such as dirt, metal scrapings, water and chemicals can get mixed in with the oil. Over time, it no longer performs well and has to be replaced with virgin or refined oil to do the job properly.

This replacement or disposal of oil only increases our consumption and reliance on virgin oil, and used oil that’s incorrectly disposed of – whether it’s dumped in landfills or stored on farms – can harm the environment. To help make Australia more self-sufficient in this area, Global Resource Recovery has the facilities to recycle oil by removing water and impurities. We transform the used oil into a high quality fuel oil that can then be used as fuel, or be further refined back into lubricating oils.

As a result, we help our customers to cut costs and protect the environment, knowing your waste oil can be reused to its full potential and reducing the need for imports.

What types of oils do we accept?

Global Resource Recovery operates an innovative oil treatment facility, where we accept any used oil – from petroleum-based to synthetic oil. We utilise physical, chemical and thermal processes for the initial recycling stage and then can further refine oil using tricanter and centrifuge technology. This additional refining process enables us to create a new base oil, or convert oil for use as fuel.

Our state-of-the-art plant is purposely designed to produce a high grade oil that can be sold. We remove contaminants from various types of oils using a fully automated system, including:

  • Non-PCB transformer oils
  • Lubricating oils
  • Ship bilge
  • Bunker oils
  • Black oil

GRR is licensed to take care of the collection and transport of waste oils, and our start-to-finish process complies with all Australian regulations. We’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency situations.
